Coming from Binondo Church, you need to cross Juan Luna and then pass the bridge that leads to Sto Cristo, and then turn left to Jaboneros Street and then right turn to Ilang-Ilang. Its walking distance from the church but I suggest an umbrella or a cap, and walking shoes.
Here's what Ilang-Ilang Restaurant looks like inside. I heard that the interiors has undergone several renovations already so it doesn't have that old world charm anymore. This one looks like the usual Chinese restaurant like Emerald and Gloria Maris.
These are what we ordered, errr .. Rache Go of www.kaladkarindiaries.wordpress.com ordered for us by the way. It is also because of her that we discovered this hidden gem of a restaurant.
Kikiam. I grew up eating this kind of kikiam so I am quite happy. And it was soooo good I bought some for take-home.
Chamisua. I was thinking of the chami with quail eggs and the dry kind but this is delicious also.
Rice Wine Chicken. Everyone including me was really smitten with this chicken dish. Its sweet, salty, tangy and really, really tastes good. You really need to order this if you happen to dine at Ilang-Ilang Restaurant.
Camaron. Shrimp with meat and spices and wrapped in sausage skin then deep fried. Best paired with chili sauce.
Aside from the restaurant, Ilang-Ilang also does catering services and delivers dishes around the area. This is where you'll find traditionally cooked Hokkien dish. Here's our foodie group taking photos before saying "itadakimasu!"
