Spiral's 21 Dining Ateliers

Sofitel Philippine Plaza prides itself for having the most extensive buffet spread not only here in the country but with other Sofitel hotels around the world also. Spiral is noted for its 21 Dining Ateliers that spans from several continents.

Spiral is located below the main lobby. You can opt to walk down the nice "spiral" staircase and maybe take some pictures as well, or take the escalator or elevator going down. Aside from the tables in the main dining area, there are also several private dining rooms for private celebrations, meetings, or even simple get-togethers that needs some privacy. Or maybe when someone is proposing to his girlfriend, the guy can reserve a dining room for them.

Here's a quick tour of Spiral's Ateliers:

This is the yakitori station. I was lucky to see some crispy soft shell crab (yum), and some beef. There's also tempura and I think you can also ask for some soba noodles if I'm not mistaken.

The Japanese station is also one of the busiest stations in Spiral. Aside from different sushi, one can also enjoy salmon and tuna sashimi. And on certain days, Hamachi is also available. Itadakimasu!

What's a buffet without some meat, right? You can choose beef or lamb, and can even have it reheated or grilled at the yakitori station.

There's also a Korean station so if you're craving for some Korean Fried Chicken and Kimchi, they also have it.

This is the Filipino Food Station. You'd be amazed at the huge jar of chicharon that may look decorative at first but feel free to get some because it is really edible.

I can't seem to stay away from pizza. Who eats pizza when there's a wide array of food choices, right? I've dined more than several times at Spiral and I think I always get a pizza slice or two. Perfect with roast beef or foie gras. ;)

And here's the best part, Spiral is also noted for having its very own Cheese Room. Buffet spreads in other hotels only have a few selection of cheeses but at Spiral, whole room is dedicated to fromage. From hard to soft cheese that can be found in France, Italy, and other countries that produces cheese, Spiral is likely to have it. Aside from imported cheeses, the Cheese Room also carries our very own Malagos cheeses from Davao. And if you have questions related to cheese, you can ask the Maitre Fromager.

A meal is never complete without some sweets. Aside from French Pastries, Ice Creams, and a Halo-Halo section, the Dessert Station has these drawers filled with sweet goodies and chocolates. My favorite here are the dark chunks of chocolates with nuts.

And here's my first plate--- a bowl of Tom Yum, crispy shrimps, and some meat roll. Bon appetit!

As always, making an advance table reservation is advised so as not to feel disappointed just in case the restaurant is full. Another useful tip especially if you're a first time diner at Spiral is to check-out all of the 21 Ateliers first so that you'll know which station to go for your favorites. Of course, it is always best to wear comfy clothes and shoes so that you can really enjoy the dining experience.

  16. I love Spiral! For me it's the best buffet in Manila - then NIU, then F1. ;) But my husband thinks I'm "lugi" when I go haha. I can't seem to maximise buffets and only eat less. Siguro kelangan maghapon ako to be able to eat more. Kelangan may rest hours, haha!

  19. It has been so long that I wanted to try Spiral because their dishes really looks appetizing and irresistible. I have tried some of the prime buffet restaurants in the metro and I am excited to find out how Spiral differs from them...

  20. Hubby and I used to frequent buffets such as Spiral but we've stopped going to them for the past two years because of his health conditions. Hoping to convince him to go to one with me at least once a year. Once is not too much, right? Hehe!

    1. Once or twice a year, maybe? Btw, he can order a la carte while you enjoy the buffet. I think that's fair. ;)
