Zucchini's Restaurant

Zucchini's Restaurant has been Quezon City's best-kept secret that's been around for more than a decade. Its a fine dining restaurant with a relaxed ambiance.

Here's one of the reason why Zucchini's is a best-kept secret:

Slow-baked Bone Marrow with Sea Salt and Arugula. Forget being health-conscious and simply scoop a generous amount of marrow on the Melba toast, sprinkle sea salt, and add some arugula and savor the goodness that will probably clog your arteries, or not. The creaminess of the marrow tasted so good you won't really feel guilty finishing off an order of this. According to the management, they have been meaning to retire this dish but loyal clients has always been requesting for this.

I love the interiors. Its very welcoming and will make you feel at ease once you sit down.

The restaurant also has two private rooms that can accommodate 16 and 10 respectively.

Seafood Platter. Huge pieces of scallops, mussels, prawn, salmon, and some salad greens. These yummy seafood can be paired with aperitifs if you are up to it. Zucchini's has a wide selection of wines for pairing.

Organic Greens with Fresh Mozzarella, Prosciutto and Figs. Had I not been exposed to edible flowers, I would have thought that the flowers in this salad are just decorative pieces. The figs adds some natural sweetness that blends in well with the greens and cheese.

Apple and Pumpkin Soup. I love pumpkin soup and adding some apple to it creates a wonderful flavor that's just hard to describe. Refreshingly delicious is the closest that I can think of. The apple chip also tastes delicious. Something mind-boggling since I didn't realize that I'm eating a thin slice of caramelized apple.

Sabrina Salad. This salad is for those who prefer sweet over balsamic dressings. Thumbs up!

Soursop Sorbet. In most fine-dining restaurants, being served sorbet is the signal that one will be served the main course soon. Sorbet cleanses the palate. In our case, we were give some soursop (guyabano) sorbet atop. The sorbet was placed on top of a strawberry-flavored column which is also edible. I didn't get to taste it though because I was excited to get acquainted with the soursop sorbet.

Australian Lamb Chops. These are huge chops of lamb. I mean, its really hard to finish this off especially if there are still other dishes to try out. And there's no mint jelly but instead, it comes with some wine sauce that's perfect for the lamb.

C.A.B. Rib Eye. Look at that beautiful piece of rib eye! Zucchini's are know for serving only the best quality meat, there's no such thing as compromise. Portion is good for sharing.

C.A.B. Tenderloin.

The steaks are all cooked medium rare as per recommendation of the chef. It is because the meat retains its natural juices, its also tender and cooked. But if you prefer it well-done or medium-well, they will happily cook it that way for you also.

Home-made Orange Chocolate Ice Cream. I'm over the moon with this ice cream. It greatly reminds me of my childhood when my mother and grandmother made candied orange rind. But this is better because it has chocolate and its in ice cream form. Perfect!

Chocolate Bailey's Cake. Okay, the food gods must have really liked me. I am quite partial when it comes to Bailey's so I'm happy to drink ... errr, eat this sinfully looking chocolatey cake laden with Bailey's.
