RECIPE: Detox Green Smoothie by The Sexy Chef

This is a surprisingly good (and green) smoothie made by Chef Barni and Ms. Rachel Alejandro during the Wellness Cooking Demo at the Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Magnolia.

I was having doubts when I saw Chef Barni added kangkong leaves but a foodie is a foodie so I had a sip, and another sip ... until I asked for another glass. No kidding.

1/2 cup romaine lettuce
1/2 cup spinach or kangkong leaves
1/2 cup ripe mango, diced
1 small banana
2 tbsp cilantro or parsley, chopped
1 tbsp coconut sugar
pinch of ground turmeric, optional
1/2 cup coconut water or water
1 cup ice

In a blender, puree all ingredients until smooth.

So how does it taste like? Hmmmm ... honestly, its so green that I almost didn't want to taste it. Besides, it has kangkong and I always associate the leaves with sinigang- hehe. Anyways, I got curious and asked for a tiny cup. Oh my, it tasted so good- sweet, refreshing, and light. The natural sweetness of the ripe mangoe and banana blends in well with the"greens" so it doesn't have any funny taste. And I thought that detox drinks doesn't taste that good.

Thank you Chef Barni and Ms. Rachel Alejandro for showing us that vegetables are not only healthy, but delicious as well.
