Gardenia Factory Tour

Last May 29, I joined the Gardenia Factory Tour organized by the Mommy Bloggers of the Philippines (MBP). It was a fun-filled event for us- mommies and kids.

Actually, I am excited to visit the bread factory because I've just finished watching the KDrama- The King of Baking; and I love bread and is a frustrated home-baker so going to a bread factory is a dream come true.

Each of us got cute I.D.'s upon entering the Gardenia premises. We had a tour around the factory and aside from thinking about The King of Baking (Kim Tak Gu), I also had a Willy Wonka moment! Hahaha ...

Alas, cameras weren't allowed during our tour inside the factory but I'll describe it briefly- Imagine a gargantuan mixer filled with white dough that looks so soft you want to jump in it. Then there's the conveyor belt that transports the small (basketball-size) lumps of dough and into a weighing scale. If the dough weighs "right," then it travels to another track that drops it into pans. As for the dough that didn't meet the desired weight, it was "dropped" into a cart that will be manually transported back to the mixer. So, the dough in the loaf pan now moves towards the oven and comes out baked already. Hello bread loaf! The loaves then moves towards "The Tower" which is a huge tall bread cooling rack. After that, the loaves moves towards the "packing" area wherein the loaves are "thrust" mechanically into the plastic bags. It then moves towards the trays and is then ready for distribution. Hope you enjoyed the tour! ;)

So after the factory tour, we all went back to the AVR because the "Gardenias" surprised the members of MBP with a simple baking demo, and asked all the kids to join. They made a simple refrigerator cake that everyone really loves. This is a belated Mother's Day treat from the "Gardenias" and the kids.

Here are the kids with their DIY refrigerator cakes that they gave to their moms. Huhu, I did not get one because my daughter is attending a culinary workshop. Congrats kids! I sure bet that your moms are very proud and excited to taste your creations. :)

And here's everyone, moms, kids, and the "Gardenias."

Thank you Gardenia for inviting us to visit your factory, and for the happiness that it brought us.
