Summer Means Halo-Halo and Ice Cream Fun

School's over in Manila so we are officially welcoming in the Summer Season and what better way to celebrate the "hot" season by having some halo-halo and other cold creations.

Topping my list of "cool" favorites is Mitre's halo halo. I love the homemade ube ice cream on top and the leche flan and how the other ingredients seem to balance the sweetness.

Razon's halo halo is another favorite but I prefer the one's sold in Pampanga because they used carabao's milk instead of evaporated milk. Another halo halo favorite from Pampanga is Kabigting's halo halo who uses carabao's milk also. However, these Pampanga halo halo is not as colorful since its mainly milk and macapuno and bananas.

Morelli's gelato is another favorite when we go to Powerplant Mall. They have more than several flavors to choose from and the best part is--- you can have a taste of your preferred flavor before getting a scoop or two. They now have a branch in Shangri-La Plaza's East Wing.

Of course, chocolate milkshake is also included on my list because this is a childhood favorite up to now. This one's from Bag O' Beans and its really a childhood favorite up to now.

And gelato or homemade ice cream that I occasionally make...

... or the newly discovered green tea ice cream in Ongpin (near Mandarin Grocery).

But there are other favorites that are available in the grocery too.

Korean ice cream.

I almost forgot to mention Swensen's ice cream. Tastes good and a feast to the eyes also. :)

And here's my all-time fave from Big Scoop- chocolate and mango. The one in the photo was taken when we dined at The Garden Cafe, Luxent Hotel. I love leche flan, candy sprinkles and mallows on my ice cream. Did you know that mallows harden when mixed with ice cream? Try it, super good!

So what's your favorite halo halo or ice cream or other summer "coolers?"
